Over 40% of adults in the UK - men about twice as likely as women – snore, and approximately 2 in every 10 snorers is affected by Obstructive Sleep Apnoea (OSA).
Habitual snoring can prevent the snorer and those around them from achieving good quality sleep and can be a warning symptom, not only in relation to OSA, but also other health problems like high blood pressure and heart disease.
Snoring is caused by the persistent vibration of the palate and surrounding structures (tonsils, tongue etc.) and it is these vibrations that progressively damage the throat nerves and muscles.
Snoring can be treated and controlled only after the reason for the snoring has been fully established. Not every person snores for the same reason hence there is no standard or single treatment to tackle snoring.
We provide a comprehensive approach to diagnosis and effective treatment of snoring, leading to better quality of sleep for the snorer and those around them.
